Mobile POS & Catalog Layout Guide

LogBook Mobile POS (/(enterprise)/pos) is designed for fast counter-top retail checkout, direct optical and hardware barcode scanning, category filtering, and instant 2” & 3” thermal receipt printing.

1. Adding & Configuring Catalog Items

Your POS screen draws directly from your cloud enterprise catalog. You can configure and populate items in three ways:

Option A: Instant “Quick Add” from Mobile POS

  1. Open Mobile POS from your dashboard or bottom navigation.
  2. Tap the + Quick Add button in the top search row.
  3. Fill in:
    • Item Name (e.g. 22K Gold Chain, Cotton Polo T-Shirt, Organic Milk)
    • Selling Price (₹) (e.g. 4,500.00)
    • Tag No / Barcode (Optional: e.g. TAG-101 or scan directly)
    • Vertical Attributes (e.g. Gross Weight, Stone Weight, Karat Purity, HUID if in Jewelry vertical)
  4. Tap Save & Add to POS Cart. The item is permanently saved to your enterprise store and immediately added to your active billing cart.

Option B: Item Management from Mobile Inventory (ITEMS Tab)

  1. Tap the ITEMS tab in the bottom bar (or open Menu ➔ Inventory Stock).
  2. Tap + Add New Item (or select any item to edit).
  3. Attach Product Photos: Upload a photo from your phone gallery or take a live picture using your camera.
  4. Assign Category: Group items into categories (e.g., Rings, Apparel, Grocery, Dairy) for easy filter chips on the POS screen.
  5. Stock Controls: Set initial quantity on hand and low stock alert thresholds.

Option C: Bulk Upload from Web Dashboard

  1. Log in to the LogBook Web Terminal (/inventory).
  2. Use the Import Excel / CSV button to upload your entire product catalog in bulk.
  3. Once imported, pull down to refresh on Mobile POS to sync the live catalog instantly.

2. Configuring the POS Layout

The Mobile POS screen offers customizable views suited for different store environments:

1. View Mode: Visual Grid vs Compact List

Tap the ⊞ / ☰ icon next to the refresh button in the header row to switch between:

  • Visual 2-Column Grid (): Large item cards displaying product photo thumbnails, name, price badge, tag number, and instant + add badge. Best for retail boutiques, jewelry showrooms, and lifestyle stores.
  • High-Density Compact List (): Compact rows displaying item thumbnail, name, SKU/Tag, live stock indicator (Green = In Stock, Red = Low Stock), price, and + action button. Ideal for groceries, supermarkets, and fast item search.

2. Category Filter Chips

  • A horizontal scroll bar automatically categorizes your inventory items (e.g. All, Gold, Silver, Groceries).
  • Tap any chip to filter the catalog view in real time.

3. Quick Edit from POS (Long-Press Gesture)

  • Long-press any item card or list row to open the Quick Edit Sheet.
  • Update the item’s Selling Price, Tag / Barcode, or Stock Quantity in real time without leaving the counter screen.

3. Barcode & QR Code Scanning

LogBook Mobile POS features dual-mode scanning:

  1. Tap the [ ‖‖‖‖ ] barcode scanner icon in the search box.
  2. Live Camera Scanner (Viewfinder):
    • Point your phone camera at any 1D barcode (Code-128, EAN-13, UPC-A, Code-39) or 2D QR sticker.
    • Use the ⚡ Torch / Flashlight button for low-light environments.
    • When detected, LogBook auto-matches the Tag No, SKU, HUID, or Batch Number and adds the item to the cart immediately.
  3. Manual / Bluetooth Scanner Mode:
    • Pair an external wireless Bluetooth barcode gun (HID mode) or type the SKU to look up items.

4. Completing Checkout & 2” Thermal Printing

  1. Items added to the cart appear in the floating Bottom Cart Bar ("X Items in Cart | Total: ₹...").
  2. Tap Review Cart to adjust quantities with + / - steppers or remove items.
  3. Tap Create Invoice & Print to view the Tax Invoice receipt preview.
  4. Tap Printer Icon to stream the receipt directly over native Bluetooth to your 58mm/80mm thermal receipt printer (e.g. PeriPeri BT-58L) or Share Icon to send a PDF invoice via WhatsApp.
  5. Tap Complete & Clear Cart to finalize the transaction.
